About CVUF
Sunday Services
In our quest for knowledge and personal growth we examine ethical values, appreciating what the world’s great religions can teach. We share space with the Comox United Church, and we meet at 4:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. Visitors are always welcome. We come together for coffee and friendship after the first Sunday and for a potluck meal after the third Sunday.
Young Peoples Religious Exploration (YPRE)
Our children’s and youth programs are based on tolerance and social responsibility. We use Unitarian curriculum materials to explore world religions, social justice issues and to develop a personal theology.
Adult Religious Exploration – (Lifespan Learning)
As Unitarians, we search for truth and work for social justice. We sponsor courses and workshops that take place throughout the year to help us do that.
Chalice Circles
We believe that Chalice Circles are the means to a more nourishing way of individual and community being and acting. Participation in one of these small groups will provide you with a place to meet others and to expand your intellectual and spiritual journey.
Lay Chaplaincy
Our Fellowship has two lay chaplains who read marriages and perform naming and memorial services. The provincial government licenses them. In addition to serving our Fellowship, our Lay Chaplains perform ceremonies for those who do not have a religious affiliation or wish to blend their religions and rituals. Each ceremony is unique since it reflects the wishes of the people involved and is not bound to an institutional form, but honours their religious, cultural and social traditions.
Social Gatherings/Fun
Unitarians have fun together. We have intergenerational social events such as potluck dinners, picnics, etc. We participate with other Unitarians on Vancouver Island for family camp, women’s retreat, and an annual All-Island Service.
Welcoming Congregation
This means that we affirm and promote the full participation of persons in all our activities and endeavours, including membership, programming, hiring practices, and the calling of religious professionals, without regard to race, colour, gender, gender expression, physical ability, affectional or sexual orientation, age, or national origin.
